Girls know...

Don't these look like fun bikes?

Bultacos were from Spain, not the first place you think of when it comes to motorcycles. A little web searching and you'l learn of their cult following. Aren't these amazing? Something fun from Franco-era Spain (for you kids: Franco was the fascist "president" of Spain for 4 decades. Yet these were able to sneak out. There's hope yet, gotta love the Spanish.

Bultaco production ceased in 1979.

Afternoon Redemption

The plan was to wait inside and on the safety of the shoulder for a banger to swing wide and give us crumb-fighters a head high rocket ride left. After a few misses one gets the drill; paddle hard and don't let up - what a step up.

Back at home the place was filled with the trippiest orange light form the setting sun. I mean it was out of that Ten Commandments movie. It made me feel all artsy and stuff.

Winter wetsuits and a point & shoot are a bad mix

Every year this is a lesson which needs to be learned. You can't surf with a camera, especially when we're still in winter rubber. The pictures aren't anything amazing, and the surf sessions overall bites.

But is was a pretty sunset, and the other 2 surfers had a ton of fun.

I'll wait until trunks before you see the waterproof point & shoot again.

4-12-11 locally before sundown

Fun for what it was - leave work at 6:30 and still enough time and light to get my gear and hook into a few waisties.

a hunch pays off in waves

Total junk was the order of the day around these parts. But I so needed a surf/change of scenes so yesterday that meant driving down to Rhode Island. Most of it was onshore & mushy, but not here heh heh.

Special J is a full on short board riding, duck diving, hang-in-the-inside for the steeper ones kinda surfer. Puerto Rico -- it shows.

And Spring means the old Detroit Iron starts gracing the roads on the weekends. One of my dream rides - a '69 Chevelle SS 396. So good, I'm getting Musclecar Monday out of the way too - and this one is just beautiful.

Island Sport/Elemental Surf - big shout - this is arguably the best surf shop in New England, an I'd put it belly to belly with any surfshop anywhere. Anywhere..

Almond Surfboards

These guys totally get it, they really do.

Take a moment to check out their blog & website.
Which shall it be? The Surf Thump? (below, a pig template):

the Lumberjack? - a knife-railed job (below)

or the skinny (21"!!), beach break friendly Log Rhythm? What would you take?

Almond Surfboards: Log Rhythm from Almond Surfboards on Vimeo.

2 more reasons, the fins are amazing and the owner/shaper is Dave Allee, one of the hardest working guys (and nicest) in the business, with a great vision and a boatload of talent.

Almond Surfboards - the real deal straight outta Newport Beach.

Stolen Board up in Maine - be on the lookout in ME - MA - NH - RI

A poor sod in Maine had his/her board riped off - keep an eye eye and kick the m-effer in the nuts:

Stolen Board Alert (reprinted from ebay):

REWARD IF FOUND

9'6" Robert August Wingnut Model.
Yellow rails and Bottom
Serial Number: 31024, written in stringer on bottom.
$500.00
This item is not for sale! Please do not bid on this!
I am trying to recover a stolen surfboard.

I am offerring $500.00 for the return of this board. I am offering a large REWARD for information leading to the return of this board to me. By the pictures it is reasonably identifiable. The tail has been repaired as I broke it jumping off jetties some time ago.

The board is most like in the Wells Beach area of MAINE. Maybe York Beach, Old Orchord, Kennebunk, Cape Cod or surrounding areas.Maybe in Massachusetts somewhere. In any case, I will pay all shipping charges to get this back. This is a specially designed board and I would like to have it back. I felt this is a good venue to post a Reward if Found listing with all the surfers out there that view eBay. If you know who has it and don't want to be involved, I will give your information that you can give to me, to the Police and pay you once the board is recovered. Again, as surfers, we must stick together. Please help if you have any information. You can call me at 713-927-9617 or e-mail me: alankirsh@gmail.com with any information.
